Pricey yet sublime road shoe

The Fizik R3 road shoe is beautiful to behold. So beautiful in fact that they weren’t allowed near the British roads in Winter and thus languished in a cupboard for a few months until Spring arrived. It was only after several days of fine weather and a thorough analysis of the Met office report that I felt confident enough to unleash them.

The uppers are made from kangaroo leather and nylon mesh with sailcloth straps completing a fine finish. Hence the hefty price tag. But with this comes a shoe in which your feet remain cool even on a scorching day. But comfort isn’t sacrificed at all with excellent padding for my bony feet which has left my feet fresh throughout the longest of rides.

The soul is carbon and is stiff as it gets ensuring good load spread across the foot and banishing hot foot issues to the past.

Why buy a pair? Because they’re stunning. You’ll draw admiring glances on start lines and at cake stops alike. Although think strongly about which colour you plump for. White kangaroo leather isn’t the easiest to clean as I’ve found to my cost.
